My Breakfast Blender Smoothies

Pear Blueberry Banana Smoothie with a sprinkle of cinnamon!

Mine was full of wedding planning and a lot of hanging out with firends, playing board games and of course indulging in greesy and tasty pizza and fries!(I’ll fit in that dress-don’t judge!!) That’s our favorite gathering activity and we deeply enjoy trying different kinds of games. We last played Dixit and he had a blast! The cards are surreal, unexpected and fan, triggering our craziest imagination. Do try it! We believe it’s far more productive and creative than just sitting around pizza and chatting over trivial topics. Well, we do that, too, but afterwards, we enjoy a good game or two!!

So, after a weekend of eating, all I always need is a clean start of my week, to tame my guilts and take my belly bloating away! What’s better than a nice thick and shiny Breakfast Smoothie that takes no time to make, makes you feel full for long, keeps you going till lunch and fills you with vitamins and other healthy substances I can’t name!?

The basis for my Smoothies is always the same to make sure I have a silky smooth result and not a runny and chunky one.

I’ve tried lots of combinations so I can tell you from now, to stay away from adding pomegrant seeds in- they don’t blend in the blender and you end up chewing every sip instead of nonchalantly gulping the sweet nectare a smothie is ! You can use the juice, instead, by sqeezing the pomegrant on an orange squeezer. Speaking of which, if you want to include orange slices, be prepared for fibers sticking in your straw, but if you’re not annoyed by that and you still want those fibers to clean your system, it’s a decent ingedient. Finally, I’ve found that adding apple makes a wierd consistency, runny with small chunks, not pleasant at all!

BASIS (for 1 full glass):

you need a small tea cup to measure the ingredients

  • 1/4 of the cup oats
  • 3/4 of the cup milk of choice (or juice or water)
  • 1 tablespoon yoghurt
  • 1 banana
  • 1 full tablespoon honey
  • 1 full teaspoon peanut butter or tahini (I have also used tahini with orange flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon flax seeds

and by blending all the above in your blender, you already have a nice Banana Smoothie.

The rest of the ingredients I tend to add to complete the smoothies, using just my imagination and my taste buds’ likings, are:

  • cinnamon or ginger
  • instead of a whole banana, 1/2 banana + 1 small fruit (pear,a few strawberries, peach, nectarine, etc)
  • frozen blueberries (or any kind of berries) -my favorite combo- and because they’re frozen they bring a thickness to the final consistency.
  • 1 tablespoon of any nuts I love
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • a little chocolate or even koufeta!
  • have left over cake pops? throw them in!!!
